(annual) hiking

Went hiking in Saikung with a bunch of friend one weekend. It was actually quite exhausting yet the scenic was breathtaking. We definitely need to be reminded that Hong Kong has such beautiful outdoor…Not sure when we’ll go again because I am still not a fan for this sports but will definitely be going out more often when Cody gets here.

drugstore skincare gem

Been looking for a make up base after my Laura Mercier one ran out. Came across this cute looking one at SaSa – sana豆乳下地.

What I liked about it is the emphasis on no chemical oil no artificial coloring and no perfume. Also the main ingredient “soy bean” helps to keep your skin hydrated. The bonus is it came with 19SPF PA++ which is enough sun protection for everyday use. I will use it as a sunscreen on days that I don’t wear make up.

Tried it today and the texture is very light and smooth. Need a bit of rubbing before it goes all transparent but face felt a bit hydrated. I think it’s perfect for the winter!

The best is, it only costs HK$78.

I’ve been loving Nuxe ever since our encounter in Paris years ago. I’ve recommended it’s body oil, hydrating mask and now I want to talk about it’s facial cleansing milk & toner.

Botanical Cleansing Milk

I am more incline to use cleansing product that doesn’t foam/lather up. Because in order to make a product foamable, a lot more chemical is required. Also it tends to stripe your skin dry.

As suggested by the name, this cleansing milk is super gentle and soft. It’s a luxury to massage it on your face while endulging in the fragrance from the orange water. I usually use it after cleansing away the make up with cleansing oil. Again, it’s perfect for winter.

Floral Toning lotion
After the cleansing procedure, I will apply the toner. If I feel I needed an extra scrub, I will pour some on a cotton pad and gently wipe across my face. Other days I would just splash it on my face and give it a few pat.

The good thing is that this is an alcohol free toner.

You can also use it as a hydrating mask with a paper mask (I like shiseido & kanebo capsulated paper mask). I tried it and it’s rather refreshing!

As a combination skin person, the above would not satisfy my need to clear out the oiliness I experienced on the t-zone area. For problem like this, I’d recommend enzyme powder cleanser. There are quite a few of them in the market like fancl, orbis and sonia ryiel. But to stick with the topic I would recommend a drugstore brand: Papawash.

By using this 2 times a week, the oiliness will be tamed. Your face would have that squeeky clean feeling like you’ve just washed a dish in very hot water. The papaya enzyme is especially important because it’s a known ingredient in breaking down protein & oil. Because of it’s super cleansing power I tended to use it strictly on my t-zone area only.
