shanghai it is…

I have a back log of photos to blog about so I better clear out my Shanghai bits first.

So the story goes like this, after I came back from Taipei we jetted off for Shanghai immediately. The purpose for this trip is to watch the Shanghai F1, a gift for my sweet hubby who’s a motor sports fanatic. The only thing was, he didn’t know anything about 6 other who was going to be joining us.

The original plan was to surprise him on the plane. but we ended up bumping into each other (yes the 8 of us) when we checked in. Oh well…

8am flight was not all that fun…

First thing we did was to stuff ourselves with Shanghai dishes. When to this restaurant in Xin Tian Di.

After a bit of a walk around town, we went back to the hotel to chill and head out for dinner. It’s the famous hairy crab season so we ended up going to this place who specialised in serving hairy crab and crab related food.

These are the little fellows who ended up on our table…poor thing. RIP! The thing about china is the labour is soooo cheap that they have special staffs disassembling the crab for you right next to your table. My crab loving friends were really sastified but for me I still don’t get it. Guess I will never be a crab fan myself.

Day 2 & 3 we spent most of the day on the race track. It’s definitely easier to follow the game on TV but the whole atmosphere was amazing. Also the vroooooooming was probably the loudest thing I’ve ever heard! Way cool!

Oh your mark, get set, go!

The really funny thing was actually at the souvenir shop. Usually it was the women who would go crazy with shopping but in this case you could see a whole bunch of guys leaning over the counter, grabbing some T-shirts and cap in one hand hand while pointing at other stuffs. Absolute mayhem :P

Anyway, I am glad bko enjoyed it. Bko, hope you love all of these. Love you lots!

And the boys already talked about the Singapore nite race next year….

p.s. noticed that I didn’t take too many photos but took quite a lot of clips (also partly becoz I forgot my camera on day 3…darn)…if only I have time to do the editing…

it’s been too long…

…since I last updated my blog. I wonder if anyone ever come visit anymore. haha Anyway, at least I know one person who comes and complains when he doesn’t see me updating…oh make that 2! so here I am.

What I’ve been up to in the last little while? I actually had my 2 weeks holiday.

At the start of my holiday, I went to Taipei with Chrissy to see an old friend, Ann, whom I haven’t seen for like 7 years. It was a bit awkward at first but we soon warmed up and I am hoping to keep in a closer touch with her. Had known her since grade 10 which is kinda scary to think how time has passed.

The trip itself was rather relax because we didn’t do much shopping nor sight seeing. Just floated around town, indulged in the Eslite bookstore (love that part) and ate a lot of local food.

After we came back, me and bko went up to Shanghai for F1. Little did he know that I’ve rounded up 6 other friends to go with him. Boy, was he grinning like a lunatic when he saw them at the airport.

Taipei Oct 1 – 4

Took the morning flight, ventured out to have 小籠包 (pork & chive steamed dumpling) at 鼎泰豐. ended up napping in the hotel for the rest of afternoon which was a total luxury.

Then we went to 士林夜市 (night market) for various snack such as deep fried tofu, 甜不辣,蔥油餅…etc

but the best would be the taiwanese icy dessert discovered by Chrissy in an small alley. The store is called 鲜芋仙 and their taro + sweet potato + sago stuff is super yummy. They are really chewy that in our opinion are way better than the famous 東區粉圓. Read more about them from this blog I found.

The next day, we met up with Ann thinking she could take us to some best-kept-secret places. Little did we know that she’s not as local as we thought so we ended up having Italian food in Taipei 101. Afterward we took the subway and went all the way to æ·¡æ°´ because we wanted to get out to the country side.

Having handmade icecream and it was super yummy!!! I ordered the milk plus mango flavor and it was really creamy & milky. Only complaint was that the icecream man had this wierd obsession about my watch.

Tried out this “thing” called 阿給. Ann said it’s only available in æ·¡æ°´ – probably because it tasted too wierd to spread and became the signature / tourist trap here:P

At least we made it there to see the sunset.

Then we went back to the city for 滷肉飯 and headed back to the hotel to play tarot :)

On day 3, the weather turned as there was typhoon coming. We went to the biggest 城品書店 in信義district. Not only selling books but they have other lifestyle and fashion items too.

It started to rain so hard so we stayed for an afternoon tea chatting, playing NDS & surfing the web.

Went to 西門町to look around and ordered duck tongue for bko. Of course we didn’t miss our change to eat more local food – 阿宗麵線&愛玉冰, which is another chrissy’s favorite.

Ended our day with a big hot pot dinner. We especially loved the 花枝.

On the last day I was so happy that we had Mos Burger for brunch before we headed out to the airport. After trying them in Japan, Singapore & now Taiwan, seems like they always tasted better than the one in Hong Kong.

That’s it for now. Shanghai trip to come later…
