Wanted to share with you some beautiful things on earth:
Lesage, an embroidery & beading master in Paris. A lot of fashion designers hired their services for their haute couture collection. The site doesn’t show you too much but the little bit of work is really pleasing to the eyes. If you are close to Paris, you can even take their short or professional course.
Don’t be put off by the wierd man with the feather duster picture on the front. I discovered Baileys from the Living Etc magazine Jan 07 issue. (My favorite modern living magazine) His life long passion is to scout through flea market around Europe to give some wonderful items that well deserved a 2nd chance. He’s famous for stripping the paint on top to show their original wooden glory. He also offered eco-friendly household products. I hope one day I can visit his shop.
When it’s bone chilling cold outside, what’s better than having Hot Pot? Definitely the little claypot rice (ç…² ä»” 飯). Everything is cooked and served in the claypot. This ensures the heat is trapped and it keeps the warmth in every bits til the very last. The beauty of it is the burned rice sticking to the bottom. The crispiness is the essence of the whole dish. And most importantly, the authentic way of cooking it is with charcoal and you can taste it in the rice. Yummy! (It’s so good that I forgot to take a picture after opening up the lid…) But don’t eat it too much, especially if you have a sore throat to start off with (or you’ll end up lying in bed for 2 days keke) Because it gives you too much “heat” or “hot air” (not literal but in chinese medical term) which is not good for your body.
When I was living in London, I always thought about the business opportunity in serving claypot rice. It really does give a gloomy and cold day a lift. What do you think Tommy?
* stop eating chips & junks
* go yoga on non-peak hour (loud-bitches-in-the-changing-room-no-everywhere-phobic kicking in)
* stay warm. it’s freaking cold
* need: humidifier, sun screen
* want: the holiday soundtrack, body scrub, good facial house in central
Calling all ladies – go watch “the holiday” if you haven’t. Jude Law is simply drop dead gorgeous *sigh*
Wow! I am super motivated today, not only did I update my blog twice, I’ve cooked!! I am hoping that I can cook at least once a week.
After Chrissy raved about how good she can make Tomato cream penne, I started to look for a recipe and found one for Linguine with Shrimp in Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce. I’ve replaced the shrimp with bacon and linguine with penne (to soak up more sauce).
See how well prepared I am? And I tried to get organic version of the food when possible.
Soaking the sundried tomato while cooking the penne (don’t cook it too well so it’s a bit chewy)
Drained the water and rinse the penne under cold tap (filtered) water. This is a chinese method to help set the penne
Stir fried the bacon slightly and use a paper towel to soak up some of the grease to cut the calorie
Slow cook the shallot until they are soft and brown
Pour in the sundried tomato soaking water, the tomato sauce & bacon to slow cook it
Cook the penne a little to dry and warms it up
Mix the penne into the sauce, add the seasoning (and i added fresh parmasean cheese to increase the creaminess)
Ready to serve!
After dinner, we went to causeway bay for a stroll. Went to Ikea for their cheapie soft ice-cream which is surprisingly milky & dense.
Then headed to the $10 (~US$1.20) store for some gardening products. I am trying to setup a herb corners. Got all of these for $80 (~US$10) muahahahahahaha I love good bargain.
My first youtube movie – on the way home:
Romantic note: me, bko, slow dance before sleep. *smile*
Q: what the hell am I doing writing blog?
A: so you can look back when you are older.
Ok. Fair and square. This is enough to fight my reluctant in updating my blog. I don’t know why but I am not motivated to write/type. But I need to remember that I am writing it for myself to document my life.
Anyway, me and b were in London for a week earlier. It’s a strange trip for me because it felt like going home rather than traveling. It feels good to be back because it’s a special place where we got into a new stage in life.
Didn’t do anything super excited…let’s see:
- Story Deli twice (first and last meal in London. now u know how much I am in love with them)
- Watched 2 expensive movies (I can’t believe it would cost GBP17.20 for a movie. It’s better than robbery)
- Went to V&A museum finally
- Went to photography club. They were showing some american photos back in the 40s in color. Interesting
- King’s Road for the nth time. Finally went to flagship store for The Organic Pharmacy. Very friendly people
- Selfridges: the candies section is still my favorite.
- Notting Hill Gate for antique browsing
- Marylebone high street is better than what I’ve remembered. I discovered this shop which has their own cheese chilling room, casual dine-in sections and fresh produce sectin. Tommy, you must go there, it’s called La Fromagerie
- Drove up to Bicester Village (and broke the bank) and Windsor
- Most importantly, met up with old and new friends: Alfred, Ellen, Tommy & Rick And Tommy, even though you were half asleep but I found you very lovely and cute.
- Discovered Borough Market and fell in love with it. Why didn’t I know about it when I lived there…
I look forward to go back again in a few years time. And hopefully by then the sterling will come down a little.
